Ricky’s image appeared to me in a telepathic communication from another one of my Iowa cats, Oreo, when I asked her if she would like any feline companions. I contacted a local vet office and was informed that there were a few older kittens, who were hand raised(their Mother was hit on the road) by a couple nearby. I went to have a look and sure enough, there was Ricky. The couple said that he was not all that friendly, but he came right up and wanted love from me.
Early on in his life, he developed skin issues consisting of scabby sores and intense itchiness. He let me know that the root of these issues was food allergies. He guided me to a more tolerable food for him and his skin cleared up beautifully except for the corners of his mouth. He continued to have some irritation off and on from one degree to another throughout his life despite remedies and meds tried from time to time. He informed me that it was very emotionally based, so I would do energy work to help him.
He started out as a barn cat and ended up in the house. He was a very affectionate fellow that was more than willing to curl up with me and just be. He was quite an adventurer and hunter, so appreciated his outdoor time too.
He was an evolved one that assisted students/clients in bringing out emotions and other old, buried issues. He enveloped them with his compassion as they would clear their issues. He was strong and yet gentle which is what made him such a great facilitator.
In the spring of 2014, the corner of his mouth became very irritated and itchy. Antibiotics, myrrh herb, rescue remedy, goldenseal topically were amongst some of the things to which he guided us. It improved significantly with the combination of Nitika’s saliva(she would lick his face in such a nurturing way) and myrrh herb.
In the summer, he was showing signs of kidney issues. He would pee on the plastic liner of the litter box as to show me that there was blood in his urine. He let my Friends and I know that his body was wearing out and to keep him comfortable. Again, he kept guiding us as to what he wanted i.e. antibiotics sometimes, colloidal silver, Kidney Support Gold as well as Urinary Support Gold from www.petwellbeing.com. All of this helped to keep him comfortable and take care of the infection.
He had his good days and not so good days. He insisted on going outside to drink out of the pond or a puddle which eventually showed me that the water in the house needed pH balancing. As soon as that was corrected, he stopped insisting on going outside to drink. So interesting what they are able to tell us if we just listen to them.

He liked going out and lying in the sun. He would visit with the horses; they knew of his fragility and nuzzled him ever so gently.
I would often sit with him as I had sprained my ankle and needed to keep it elevated. He would pour energy to me assisting me to awaken further to my intuition. It helped me to realize that things were not right in my relationship. So much to deal with all at once!! So amazing how these Animals support us while we are supporting them!!
Ricky held his own throughout the summer. He would seem as if he was perhaps going to give up soon then rally. My Friends and I would check in with him periodically to make sure his wishes were being honoured. I was staying open to a natural death as well as euthanasia.
He weakened significantly on September 3rd.. During the night, he was somewhat restless wanting to be turned over. On September 4th, I spent the morning sitting quietly with him in the front livingroom knowing that it was not going to be much longer. He meowed softly a few times then took a couple of deep breaths and I could feel him starting to pass out of body. He then took his last breath and I felt the full release of his soul. It was so peaceful!! I felt that he waited until he knew I could handle the situation at hand in my relationship. What an example of selflessness!!
Spirit, another one of my Iowa cats, supported me. Nitika put her head on me then licked Ricky’s body and finally laid her head near his body. His Sister, Sissy Morgan, lay on his lifeless body for an hour. She willingly moved off of him when I let her know that it was time to bury his body. I gave all the horses a chance to acknowledge his passing.
We buried him on the hillside by Dusty’s grave. He is still around making his presence known. Sissy and I heard him in the front foyer.
I love you Ricky!! What a gift you were/are in my life!! You live forever in my heart!!
