Hisser was one of Greg’s original cats. He came into Greg’s life about 18 years ago when they lived in Grand Cache, Alberta. He then moved with Greg to Innisfail, Alberta. He was a friendly cat that loved being around people. Even though he had a very comfortable cat house with the other cats, he preferred hanging around the house in case someone was available to provide some loving attention.
Hisser knew that I was a cat lover and welcomed me into his life about seven years ago. When we moved to British Columbia, he lived in a camper with Greg’s four other cats. He still hung around the house on a regular basis especially last spring. So much so that I made up a little house for him outside the door on the back patio.
He started getting thin which was very typical of him during that time of year. He then started asking for remedies for infection, etc. I asked if he wanted to go to the vet and he said, “No”. He continued to guide my Friend, Heather, and me as to what he needed i.e. remedies and energy work.
I did my best to spend more time with him even though he did not require as much care as Uschie, who was going through her dying process. He rallied as his appetite improved, seemed more engaged and less lethargic. At that point, it wasn’t real clear if he was in that euphoric state before death or if he was truly getting better; we, of course, were hoping for the latter.
His improvement was short lived as he became more lethargic right around the time of Uschie’s death. The Tues. night following Uschie’s death(July 27/13), I brought him into the house as he was significantly weaker. I checked on him periodically as he slept beside our bed. The next day, he wanted back outside. I kept a close eye on him throughout the day. At one point, he looked me right in the eye and told me that he was indeed dying. He came in the house again on Wednesday night to sleep beside our bed. As always, he was lavished with lots of love.

I cancelled my client day on Thursday because Hisser was even weaker and I had a strong sense from him that he was going to pass on that day. He rested comfortably on the couch most of the day as I gently petted him and let him know how much I loved him and what a blessing it was to have him in our lives. Spirit came up to check on him. Cheyenne sat beside me as to support me. I quietly supported Hisser as he convulsed a couple of times(part of his death process) and he eventually passed on peacefully at 7pm on August 1/13. I took some time to grieve and then I took his body out to the cat house. Mum, Special and Ask’im sniffed him and Wheezie seemed to know already. As I was walking back to the house, an eagle soared above. I smiled as I knew that it was a sign of his soul soaring.
I then anointed his body with Frankincense. We took his body to the Vet’s office as he wished to be cremated.
Greg and I grieved together when he arrived home. Hisser was his buddy for a long time.
We continue to cherish this awesome being!! He was such an old soul that deeply touched many hearts, including mine. We miss his physical presence as he was often around us. He was always up for a good petting. Lots of drooling happened during that time.
I have seen and often sense him around still. He has not indicated whether he will be back in physical to us or not. He has told me that he is continuing his rejuvenation process and will decide what to do when it is ‘right’.
